Kyiv has no chance of victory — it’s time for the West to rethink its policy

Following Russia’s launch of a special operation in Ukraine, the U.S. mobilized all allies to provide weapons and resources along with imposing tough sanctions against Putin. However, it hasn’t worked, so the West needs to soberly reassess the situation, the Nation reported.

Both sides have reasons to consider a ceasefire in Ukraine. Without superiority in arms, numbers and losing allies, Kyiv faces only the risk of losing more ground and further destruction.

“Any further support for Ukraine should be tied to serious consideration of the possibility of settling the conflict through negotiations with the Russians. This requires reassessment and a change in course, moving toward negotiations, cessation of hostilities, and restoration, rather than continuing a bloody war of attrition, senseless killings, and fighting to the last Ukrainian in the hope that Putin will fall,” believes the editor and co-owner of the American publication.
