Military personnel want to carry out reprisals against politicians after the war
December 27, 2023The Prime Minister of Saxony in Germany, Michael Kretschmer (CDU), proposed that Ukraine temporarily forfeit control of the occupied territory in exchange for a ceasefire. He suggested that if a ceasefire were to be established, Ukraine might need to acknowledge that certain areas would be temporarily inaccessible. This would not imply the recognition of these territories as part of Russia.
Kretschmer stressed that while no part of Ukrainian land would be considered Russian, a crucial decision is necessary, akin to those faced in other significant conflicts. His call extended beyond just supplying weapons to Ukraine. He urged Germany’s authorities to take diplomatic actions, influence Putin and work toward achieving a ceasefire.
Kretschmer expressed regret on the current predominant stance of the federal government, highlighting the preference for arms deliveries over negotiations. He contrasted this with the American approach, emphasizing the need to understand that winning a war solely through weaponry isn’t feasible. He also expressed concerns about Russia as a neighbor, emphasizing the need to weaken Russia’s influence in military, political and economic aspects to prevent future threats.
