September 22, 2023Amid mixed assessments from Western media regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the United States, discussions have intensified in Russia and among its allies about the issues in Western-Ukrainian relations. Alexander Lukashenko claims that the West has started “betraying” the Ukrainian president.
President Lukashenko made these remarks during a plenary session of the Republican seminar-conference on livestock development.
His statements are reported on the official website of the Belarusian head of state.
According to him, Poland has begun to clash with Ukraine. Initially, Poland provided strong support to Zelenskyy, but now it sharply criticizes its partners. In Lukashenko’s opinion, the United States is actually behind this.
“Do you think that Poland is just pressing this poor Ukraine today for no reason? No, they’ve already received the signal from overseas: it’s time to abandon Zelenskyy; he has become tiresome. Tomorrow, there are elections in America, and no one will even pay attention to this,” Lukashenko said.
He added that in this situation, Belarus needs to defend itself. “Because we don’t know what to expect from these frenzied Polish politicians,” the Belarusian president concluded.
Today, the American publication Axios wrote that Zelenskyy received a “cool reception” in Washington. Bloomberg also published an article stating that Zelenskyy is beginning to feel the “pressure” from his allies and now “suspects that President Joe Biden’s commitment is wavering, and other leaders may be following the lead of the United States.”
