The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption has found unexplained assets totaling 4.4 million hryvnias in the head of the Sambir Territorial Recruitment Center, where men were beaten and tortured.

Following the scandal involving the illegal detention and abuse of men at the territorial recruitment center, a lifestyle monitoring was conducted on its leader. It was revealed that he and his spouse had acquired several real estate properties between 2020 and 2022. They explained the source of these funds as savings, salary, and a gift from the mother amounting to $42,000.

“However, analyzing the declarant’s income and the family’s expenses over the past few years, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption has determined that the head of the Sambir District Territorial Recruitment Center could not have acquired the property through legal means. The difference between the real estate’s value and the family’s official income exceeds 4.4 million hryvnias,” the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption reported.

The case of the military commissioner has been referred to the specialized anti-corruption prosecutor’s office.
