No privileges, no jobs: Poland is preparing to tighten the rules for Ukrainians without passports – The Guardian
25.04.2024 23:55In the city of Tulchin in the Vinnytsia region, employees of the territorial recruitment center forcibly detained a 21-year-old young man, brought him to a commission, and then immediately sent him to a military unit.
This was reported by the Vinnytsia publication “20 Minutes,” referring to the story told by his mother.
Maya Derun, the mother of 21-year-old Nazariy, recounted that a few months ago her son was handed a summons, even though he was only 20 years old.
“No one looked at the documents, and when he said he was twenty, they said, ‘What can you do about it? You have to show up,'” the mother said.
The second time, namely on April 18, he was met around 10:00 as he was heading to the Tulchin police department. Employees of the territorial recruitment center approached the young man, after which a verbal altercation ensued.
Initially, this meeting ended with Nazariy going to the police, but when he finished his business there, he was already awaited in the lobby. There were the same employees of the territorial recruitment center. Another argument ensued, culminating in the writing of statements against each other. Nazariy stated that he was being threatened, while the employees of the territorial recruitment center, as his mother recalls, drew up a report stating that he did not appear as summoned.
However, it didn’t end there: Nazariy Derun was forcibly taken to undergo a military medical examination.
“They took all his documents, forcibly cornered him, and took a photo, which they later used for the military ID. They threatened him with a gun. And there was no adequate examination. But they wrote that he was healthy,” the mother recounted.
According to her, Nazariy constantly heard phrases from the employees of the territorial recruitment center directed at him:
“According to the new law from Zelensky, we can do whatever we want!” or “I don’t care about the laws, according to the documents I’m crazy, I’ll shoot you now and I won’t care! Nothing will happen to me!”, “I’ll shoot you right now!”
When her son didn’t return home, the mother filed a statement with the police about his abduction.
“During the information verification, the police established that according to the order of the Tulchin territorial recruitment center, the son of the applicant was called up and sent to one of the military units for service,” the police responded.
It wasn’t until around one in the morning that the young man first made contact. He was in Olgopol. Upon arrival, he was forced to sign a military ID. They didn’t stay there long; soon Nazariy was taken to another location, where he is still today. From other guys, he learned that they are given 35 days for training, and then sent to the war.
Earlier, it was reported that in Ukraine they will digitize the data of military conscripts.
