Military service members who illegally went abroad will be held accountable if they return, said State Border Service spokesman Andrey Demchenko.

“If someone illegally crosses the state border in the future, when they return, they will be held accountable. This does not mean that if a person has committed such a violation, he will escape punishment,” Demchenko said on the telethon.

He noted that in September, when raids began on military registration and enlistment offices, there were fewer refugee draft dodgers than in August.
