22.01.2026 - 06:02₴118 million (about €2.33 million) has been seized in the accounts of companies that posted bail for suspects in the “Midas” case.
This was stated by Bohdan Korolchuk, First Deputy Head of the State Financial Monitoring Service, during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada’s Temporary Investigative Commission examining possible violations in the defense sector, anti-corruption legislation, and human rights under martial law.
According to him, the State Financial Monitoring Service identified violations and passed the relevant information to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, after which the funds were seized. The review found that the companies were involved in schemes to provide money as bail for suspects in the criminal proceedings.
“As part of examining all the chains and all the bails, we made the decision to stop 118 million hryvnias (€2.33 million). And now an arrest is being imposed on them by the Anti-Corruption Bureau,” Korolchuk said.
In response to a follow-up question from the head of the commission, Oleksii Honcharenko, Korolchuk clarified that these are funds that remained in the companies’ accounts after the bail payment was made. At the same time, Korolchuk said he does not know why the suspicious transaction monitoring system did not work in this case. For example, a company that in total posted ₴37 million (€729,468) in bail had only ₴1,000 (less than €20) in authorized capital. Moreover, according to the commission, it did not conduct any statutory business activity.
Earlier, it was reported that businessman Ihor Kolomoiskyi was not brought to an anti-corruption meeting of the commission due to preparations for an attempt on his life.
