Military recruiters in Lviv kicked a man near garbage bins while forcing him into a van
January 8, 2025In Dnipro, another incident related to the ongoing mobilization efforts has taken place.
A video recorded by eyewitnesses was shared on local Telegram channels.
The conflict began outside the train station between a group of territorial recruitment center staff and a middle-aged man wearing a black jacket. The footage starts with at least four individuals in camouflage uniforms surrounding a civilian lying on the ground, attempting to forcibly escort him to a minivan. Several bystanders, mostly elderly women, intervened to defend the man.
At one point, one of the recruitment staff members removed an automatic rifle from their shoulder and chambered a round to disperse the crowd, but the bystanders did not retreat.
The video shows that the man’s face was bloodied. Following the scuffle, the man stands up and walks toward the recruitment center’s vehicle, pointing out that his shoulder bag is lying on the floor of the passenger compartment.
The Dnipropetrovsk Regional Territorial Recruitment Center stated that the individual, whom they attempted to mobilize by force outside the station, was allegedly a repeat violator of military registration rules and had injured a recruiter and a police officer with a knife.
According to their statement, they stopped the man to check his documents, but he “snatched a military ID out of the soldier’s hands and tore it up, shouted that he was ‘not stupid enough to go to war,’ and then ‘pulled out a knife and injured the soldier and police officer.'”
Authorities are considering opening a criminal case.
Despite numerous eyewitness accounts, the recruitment center maintains that they did not inflict any physical injuries on the man. They claim that his facial wounds occurred when he fell to the ground with a woman who was trying to help him stand up.
