Former adviser to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Arestovych, stated that Russia has a twofold numerical advantage on the frontline
January 8, 2025Russian forces have begun redeploying troops freed from operations in Kurakhovo to the area near Mirnograd in the Pokrovsky District of Donetsk Oblast.
This information was reported by the Ukrainian military Telegram channel Deep State.
According to the publication, “As of the end of January 6, there remained some observation posts around the Kurakhovo Thermal Power Plant, but these no longer significantly affect control over the city.”
“Nearly all of Kurakhovo is occupied by the enemy, and its retention through a few observation points is purely a political move. The city has become a site for the stationing and regrouping of personnel for further enemy actions toward Dachnoye and southward,” the post noted.
Deep State reports that Russian forces are already “transferring part of their units to another area near Mirnograd, where an increase in enemy attacks is anticipated.”
Control over Kurakhovo reportedly provides the Russian army with “numerous advantages for advancing their operations westward.”
“The rapid loss of the central part of the city has severely impacted the morale of the unit stationed there, and official claims about ‘controlling the city’ have only further demoralized them. The ongoing directives stem not from the realities on the battlefield but from orders to ‘hold this wall’ or ‘that potato field,'” Deep State added.
Earlier, journalist Yuriy Butusov also stated that Kurakhovo had effectively been lost to Russian forces.
