As for the threat to humans, African Swine Fever is a disease that affects pigs and does not pose a direct health risk to humans. However, it is highly contagious among pigs and is associated with nearly 100% mortality in infected animals. The virus can persist in the environment for extended periods, including on clothing, animal-derived products, and more, contributing to its spread primarily through contact with humans and other animals. Additionally, the disease can be transmitted through the consumption of food products derived from infected animals, such as pork, and through blood-feeding parasites and certain insects. The virus can also survive on feed, transportation, clothing, and animal care items for extended periods.
