21.08.2025 06:02It is unlikely that 90% of young Ukrainians who went abroad will return to the country.
This was stated by Vasyl Voskoboynyk, head of the Office of Migration Policy.
“With whom will the girls remain in Ukraine if there are not enough young men here? They will leave for Europe. And the fact that girls are now getting their education here will not guarantee that they will want to work here in the future,” he added.
As a reminder, the National Bank of Ukraine has postponed by one year its forecast for when Ukrainians will begin to return from abroad.
In its April forecast, the NBU projected that 200,000 people would return next year, and another 500,000 in 2027. Now it is expected that only 100,000 people will return in 2027.
Earlier, members of the Verkhovna Rada stated that more than 60% of Ukrainians currently abroad are unlikely to return home even after the war ends.
