29.10.2024 14:23No one knows how to restore Ukraine’s 1991 borders, which is why this point isn’t included in the “victory plan”.
This information said Dmytro Kukharchuk, commander of the 2nd Assault Battalion of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade.
He also questioned the necessity of fighting specifically for the 1991 borders.
“Every war is fought not for territories but for people. The location of Ukraine’s borders won’t matter if there are no Ukrainians left to live within them. Probably no one has an answer to the question of how to reclaim lost territories. Those who should have a plan are instead hoping for ‘black swans’ (unpredictable events like potential instability within Russia),” Kukharchuk said. “It’s like thinking, ‘Oh, maybe Prigozhin will come back,'” he added.
Kukharchuk suggested two possible scenarios for the future. In the first, the front line collapses, Russia occupies Ukraine, but through a partisan war, some territory might be defended. In the second scenario, the war freezes along the current front lines, giving Ukraine a few years to prepare effectively for a potential future invasion.
