August 7, 2024American military contractors are hesitant to sign joint production contracts in Ukraine.
This was reported by the portal Defense One.
There are two main reasons why U.S. contractors are refraining from joint production: concerns about corruption in Ukraine and security issues.
“I think our industry is really eager [to cooperate], but at the same time, it has to make sense from a business perspective, right? And funding is also an issue. Obviously, corruption is a concern,” said a State Department representative on condition of anonymity.
The publication notes that despite pressure from the Pentagon, American military firms, if they do sign contracts, do so with much greater reluctance compared to their European counterparts.
In other words, Americans lack confidence that Ukraine will continue to exist in the future.
