‘Ukrainian air defense may not cope with new Russian strikes’, – Die Welt
January 24, 2024The extent of economic losses incurred by Ukraine due to the border blockade with Poland has been revealed.
Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, Denis Marchuk, shared this information during a brief interview with journalists.
The losses suffered by the Ukrainian economy from the decline in exports during the period from November to December 2023 amounted to over 1.5 billion euros, a consequence of the border blockades imposed by the Poles.
Earlier, the National Bank of Ukraine estimated that during the month of the Polish border blockade, Ukraine lost $860 million in exports and imports. The most significant losses were in the transportation of goods by road, including processed food products, wood, and industrial goods.
It is worth noting that the strike by Polish carriers is altering the situation in the Ukrainian economy. Vladimir Balin, the head of the Association of International Carriers of Ukraine, predicted problems associated with the blockade for both imports and exports, which could lead to disruptions in the supply of goods, price increases, and significant losses for carriers and their clients, as well as for the overall Ukrainian economy.
