24.01.2024 06:01In the Poltava region, a man has been sentenced to probation for initially responding to 16 draft notices but ignoring the last two.
This information is stated in the verdict of the Kozelshchyna District Court in the Poltava region, published in the registry of court decisions of Ukraine.
According to the court session data, in June 2023, the man was deemed fit for military service. In November 2023, he received two draft notices but twice evaded mobilization.
During the trial, the suspect claimed that he had received many more draft notices than acknowledged. He noted that from June to November 2023, he received 18 draft notices. However, 16 times he went to the territorial recruiting center, but due to his health condition, military units refused to enlist him.
Furthermore, the defendant added that each of these 16 times, a lieutenant colonel personally transported him to the military unit.
He “highlighted irregularities in the territorial recruiting center system, claimed that his military ID, stored by the territorial recruiting center staff, did not reflect all the information about his registration, and the center’s staff constantly corrected dates instead of entering actual information. All of this affected him and resulted in him genuinely not showing up for the last two draft notices,” according to court documents.

During the hearing, the suspect admitted guilt and expressed remorse. The court found the resident of the Poltava region guilty under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to four years of imprisonment. Later, this sentence was replaced by a new decision, sentencing him to two years of probation.
