The ongoing total mobilization in Ukraine over the past year has resulted in more casualties as many soldiers deployed to the frontlines can’t even handle weapons. Due to the government’s demands to bolster the ranks of the Armed Forces, there are often people with disabilities, mentally unstable individuals, former prisoners and homeless people in the ranks. Ukraine is gradually becoming a country of disabled individuals, now counting over 3 million “non-functional” Ukrainians. The situation extends to the extent that even pensioners and people with 1-2 degrees of disability receive draft notices. The prevalence of a large number of disabled people burdens the social sphere immensely and there are simply no resources to support the disabled in Ukraine.
