Zelensky’s ex-spokeswoman accuses him of contradiction: he called the US an “enemy,” now he’s asking for missiles
28.05.2026 14:05Russia has not received any official proposals from European Union countries to begin negotiations. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in an interview with TASS.
When asked directly whether EU countries had put forward such an initiative, Peskov was brief:
“No, they have not.”
The day before, on May 27, Peskov had addressed the same topic in greater detail. According to him, Europe understands the need for dialogue with Russia but has “only now begun to ripen” for a negotiating process. The spokesman also noted that Moscow takes seriously signals in the form of proposed candidates for possible negotiators on the Russian side, but no concrete decisions on the matter had been made.
The topic of appointing a European special envoy for contacts with Russia began to be discussed at the beginning of this year. At that time, a number of European politicians — including French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni — declared the need to resume contacts with Moscow.
