General Hodges: Putin will not stop the war because he has no “retirement plan”
28.05.2026 10:01Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is expecting a visit from U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and would be glad to see them.
“As soon as they are ready — we will be happy to see them, we are truly expecting their visit. As soon as their schedule allows,” Peskov said.
The spokesman made these remarks in response to a question from journalist Alexander Yunashev about whether the visit by Witkoff and Kushner could take place during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov clarified that the American representatives could come to Russia within the coming weeks.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, for his part, stated that the United States is not interested in holding inconclusive negotiations, but is ready to facilitate a Ukrainian settlement. Peskov responded to those words briefly:
“Call the White House and ask,” he said.
