Political analyst: Ukraine is preparing for a possible resignation of Zelensky
27.08.2026 12:01Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has promised a harsh response to Ukrainian strikes on Russia’s economic and trade infrastructure.
He made the statement in a comment to Bloomberg.
The question was prompted by reports from Bloomberg sources that Russia is preparing to increase the intensity of strikes on infrastructure targets in Ukraine due to a deadlock in peace negotiations. In responding to the question, Peskov made a caveat regarding military escalation.
“But if you are talking about military escalation, we simply don’t need it, because we are already advancing,” said Dmitry Peskov.
Since the beginning of the year, air defense forces have shot down more than 54,000 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions. According to Kommersant’s calculations, the average daily number of intercepted UAVs has grown more than threefold — from 116 in January to 425 in July. The number of regions mentioned in Ministry of Defense reports increased over the same period from 36 to 44.
Over the summer, Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes on Russian oil refineries as well as on the logistics centers of Wildberries and Ozon have become more frequent. Attacks on fuel and energy sector infrastructure have led to fuel shortages, rising prices, and queues at gas stations.
