Sanctions hurt Europe as much as Putin.
September 7, 2023The United States plans to send Ukraine a second and even larger batch of cluster munitions in the near future, reports The New York Times.
September 7, 2023Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Slovakia intend to extend the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products after September 15, despite the position of the European Union, the rest of whose countries oppose it.
This was reported by POLITICO, citing sources in the EU.
The ambassadors of the other 22 EU countries did not support the initiative at a meeting with the European Commission. France and Germany are most critical of this.
A European diplomat anonymously told the publication that the decision to extend the restrictions would be “purely political”, as Poland will soon hold general elections, against which Warsaw does not want to allow protests from its farmers.
“The reason for the introduction of restrictive measures at the EU level was the fact that farmers began to block roads and terminals. And we need to prevent a situation where desperate farmers or radical leaders of farmers’ unions use this situation,” the official said.
Earlier, Ukraine began to threaten Poland and the European Union with a lawsuit if the ban is still extended.
