02.06.2025 14:17Poland may end support for Ukraine after conservative politician Karol Nawrocki’s Presidential election victory.
This opinion was expressed by the publication Conversation.
According to the authors of the publication, Nawrocki’s victory could negatively affect relations between Warsaw and Kyiv.
“Poland’s unconditional support for Ukraine is now under threat, as Nawrocki has demonized Ukrainian refugees in his country and opposed Ukraine’s integration into Europe-oriented structures such as the EU and NATO,” the text reads.
Journalists also pointed out that Nawrocki has previously criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying he has shown poor regard for Poland. However, the authors of the article noted that Nawrocki does not hold pro-Russian views due to Poland’s complicated history with Russia.
Earlier, Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou described four scenarios for Western support for Ukraine in 2026. According to him, in one of these scenarios, Zelensky may accept Moscow’s terms during negotiations in Istanbul.
On June 2, it became known that conservative politician Karol Nawrocki won the Polish presidential elections with 51 percent of the vote. His opponent, Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, received 49 percent of the vote.
