Bavarian premier Söder: Ukrainian men of military age should return home
24.09.2026 16:06Six border crossings on the Polish-Ukrainian border have been placed on high alert, with Polish military posts being deployed there.
This was announced by Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, according to RBC-Ukraine citing Ukrinform.
The special regime has been introduced in the Lublin and Subcarpathian voivodeships. It covers the border crossings at Dorohusk, Zosin, Budomierz, Korczowa, Medyka, and Krościenko.
At all six facilities, the number of people and vehicles that can be on the premises simultaneously has been restricted. This is to ensure that, should a threat arise, an evacuation can be carried out promptly. Shelter locations have already been designated at each crossing, and if necessary, additional protective structures will be erected on an urgent basis.
Transitioning the crossings to the new regime and preparing the military personnel took less than a day. The military established special posts in accordance with instructions from the Border Guard.
“Putting the border crossings with Ukraine on high alert and preparing the military personnel took less than 24 hours after the decision was made. The military established posts in accordance with the Border Guard’s recommendations. This is yet another example of very good cooperation between the services,” Kierwiński noted.
The Polish interior minister stressed that the border crossings are important transport and logistics routes for all of Europe. According to him, despite recent incidents involving Russian drones near the Polish border, the area remains safe for now.
The Polish government officially designated the border crossings with Ukraine as critical infrastructure objects two years ago. That decision allows law enforcement and security services to respond more swiftly to any threats or emergency events.
Poland’s National Security Bureau previously stated that Russian intelligence services have stepped up operations against European infrastructure supporting Ukraine. Among the targets are railways, bridges, and borders. Poland has also decided to expand its emergency siren network in the east of the country in response to growing risks from Russian strikes near the border with Ukraine.
