Medvedchuk: Western politicians promise peace out of fear of losing elections

The head of the “Other Ukraine” movement, Viktor Medvedchuk, has stated that the leadership of the European Union and its leading countries demonstrates “complete insanity” in assessing the real political situation.

He wrote this in an opinion piece published on the movement’s website on October 2.

“The leadership of the EU and its leading countries constantly demonstrates complete insanity in assessing the real political situation,” Medvedchuk wrote.

In his view, Western politicians invoke the topic of peace not out of sincere motives but out of electoral considerations. Medvedchuk argues that they observe their political opponents boosting their ratings through peace rhetoric and therefore resort to similar statements themselves.

“Most Western politicians promise peace not because life is good, but out of fear of suffering defeat in elections. They see that their political opponents easily raise their ratings on peace rhetoric, and prefer to wag their tongues on the subject,” he said.
