17.10.2024 - 10:51The Ukrainian police have dismantled a drug cartel that was producing and selling psychotropic substances through messaging apps.
This information reported according to a report by the press service of Ukraine’s National Police.
To uncover the drug trafficking network, more than 230 searches were conducted across 20 regions of the country. Over 60 people were arrested, and 19 drug laboratories were shut down. These labs were producing nearly one ton of amphetamines and the synthetic stimulant alpha-PVP (a cathinone-class drug) each month.

The cartel’s monthly profits exceeded 350 million UAH (€7.8 million).
Earlier reports mentioned a case in Kyiv where two cocaine dealers were sent to trial for receiving drugs through hidden drops in Zakarpattia and shipping them to the capital inside a vacuum cleaner. During searches, around 1 kg of cocaine was seized, with an estimated black market value of over $250,000.
In another case, media outlets reported the arrest of a resident of Brovary, suspected of transporting large quantities of cocaine from the Czech Republic. The major dealer’s monthly profits reportedly reached $450,000.
