“Trump intends to bring Ukraine and Russia to the negotiating table to end the war”, – future U.S. presidential advisor says
14.11.2024 12:20The newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump will not abandon support for Ukraine, which is defending itself from Russian aggression.
Trump has repeatedly stated that, as a “natural fighter,” he likes to win and does not like to lose, which was demonstrated during the recent U.S. elections. He has also emphasized the importance of effective use of American taxpayers’ money, Duda noted.
“Given how much the United States has already invested in aid to Ukraine and the enormous funds provided to Ukraine’s defenders in the form of various military equipment and financial assistance to help the country survive and defend itself, my conclusions are clear. I cannot imagine President Donald Trump allowing Russia to destroy Ukraine. This is a matter of respect for American taxpayers’ money and also about ensuring that America remains involved and does not lose,” the Polish president emphasized.
On November 9, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated during a press conference that Duda and Trump have a good personal relationship. He also announced that Duda plans to visit the United States soon to meet with the newly elected president.
Trump has repeatedly said that if elected as head of state, he would end Russia’s war against Ukraine before his inauguration in January 2025 (he also claimed that he could negotiate an end to the war within 24 hours). However, Trump has never provided detailed plans, only stating that he would achieve direct negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian leaderships.
During a presidential debate on September 10, Trump stated that “ending the war in Ukraine is in America’s interest.” His opponent, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, argued that Trump simply intends to “surrender.”
The Wall Street Journal, citing three sources close to Trump, reported that one of the proposed plans includes a commitment by Kyiv not to join NATO for at least 20 years. Such a deal would establish the current front line and involve both sides agreeing to a demilitarized zone spanning 800 miles (1,287 kilometers) with peacekeepers, though U.S. military personnel would not participate. The publication highlighted that Trump has yet to finalize his strategy regarding the war in Ukraine.
