12.06.2026 16:06Ukraine will not receive from the European Union an additional approximately €17.3 billion that Kyiv is requesting to intensify strikes deep into Russian territory.
This opinion was expressed by political analyst Yuri Samonkin in an interview with News.ru.
According to Samonkin, the European Union is experiencing a “very severe crisis.” The analyst pointed to problems with weapons production, because of which the EU will not be able to supply Ukraine indefinitely in its fight against Russia.
“Naturally, the EU has its own security lines that must be maintained. These include counterterrorism, external threats, and ongoing military exercises, which is why the European defense industry is sagging considerably. And the US is now more focused on Middle East policy,” Samonkin said.
The funding request had become known earlier: a senior representative of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense told Politico that Kyiv intends to secure an additional approximately €17.3 billion from its allies to intensify strikes deep into Russian territory. Ukraine officially plans to present this request on June 18 at a Ramstein-format meeting.
