November 2, 2023In the village of Glubochok in the Khmelnytskyi region of Ukraine, a man who claimed to be Jesus was caught robbing and vandalizing graves. He had targeted a total of 19 graves.
This information was reported by the press service of the Khmelnytskyi region.
According to the police, on November 1, a resident of the village reported to the emergency line “102” that an unknown man was committing acts of vandalism on graves at the cemetery.
Police officers from the local community were dispatched to the scene and, together with local residents, detained the perpetrator. The man was identified as a 50-year-old resident of the village of Ivankovtsi who had been kicked out of his home by his wife. He had represented himself as Jesus and was carrying a backpack containing a cross, a Ukrainian flag, and candles. He explained that he had stolen these items with the intention of taking them home.
Information about the incident has been recorded in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Article 279, Part 1 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code (desecration of a grave).
