Arestovich declares frontline stalemate and the necessity of initiating peace talks with Russia
November 2, 2023A 52-year-old military serviceman in Odessa, who was assaulted by four individuals, also military personnel, in Chornomorsk on October 25, has tragically passed away.
His wife, Olesya Kuprich, announced his death on Facebook.
“Today at 7 in the morning, our Yuri’s heart stopped beating.”
It was also revealed that it was the serviceman’s birthday just the day before his passing.
Shortly before her husband’s death, Kuprich provided an interview in which she described the details of the assault, referencing footage from a surveillance camera. She explained that the incident occurred as her husband was leaving a store and a car with the individuals pulled up. An altercation ensued, although the exchange of words was inaudible in the video, as there was no audio. Her husband had undergone surgery in the spring, had six bolts in his chest, and had a spinal fracture. The video clearly showed that he did not provoke anyone, and yet he was initially assaulted by one individual and then by others.
Following the assault, the assailants also stole the serviceman’s bank cards, phone, and military ID. He was hospitalized with a neck fracture and brain swelling.
The police have identified the individuals responsible, and a criminal case has been opened for hooliganism. It may be subject to reclassification in light of the serviceman’s tragic passing.
