17.06.2024 22:57In Ukraine, around 130,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) have been forced to return to conflict zones or occupied territories due to housing and employment issues.
This information was reported by Maksym Tkachenko, head of the parliamentary working group on housing for the Parliamentary Temporary Special Commission on the protection of IDPs’ rights, at the “Monetary Assistance for Internally Displaced Persons” conference.
“Primarily due to housing problems and lack of funds, nearly 130,000 IDPs have been forced to return home, to conflict zones, or even to occupied territories,” stated Tkachenko.
In light of this, Tkachenko emphasized the necessity of adopting draft law No. 10382, which provides for the extension of monetary payments to most IDPs until the end of martial law or until they adapt to new locations.
It is worth noting that from March 1, most IDPs lost their monthly state payment of 2,000 hryvnias (46 euros).
Additionally, it was noted that nearly 300,000 forcibly displaced persons in Ukraine have stopped receiving their pension payments.
