September 19, 2023President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that the war in Ukraine will be long-lasting.
He made these remarks in an interview with PBS.
“To be absolutely open and clear, it is entirely obvious that this war will last a long time and will not end soon,” the Turkish President believes.
According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin “advocates for a swift end to the war.”
“I am saying this based solely on his words. Putin wants this war to end as soon as possible. That’s what he said and I believe his words,” Erdogan said.
He added that he “trusts Russia.”
“For the past 50 years, we have been at the doorstep of the European Union, and at the moment, I trust Russia no less than the West,” Erdogan stated.
As he mentioned, half of the gas supplies come from Russia, “which signifies our solidarity.”
“Russia is one of my closest neighbors. And we share a common history,” he said.
Earlier, the U.S. administration did not rule out that military actions in Ukraine could continue into 2024. In Germany, it is believed that Russia is ready to wage war in Ukraine for another two to three years. Experts in Germany talk about the militarization of Russian society and do not exclude that Russia might initiate another major offensive in Ukraine.
