23.07.2024 - 22:33DTEK has advised Ukrainians on how to prepare for the winter and urged them to “rely on themselves.”
In a comment to Ukrainian media, DTEK’s Executive Director Dmytro Sakharuk said that Ukrainians should consider what they can do for themselves to get through the next winter more easily.
“Rely on yourself. I’m not joking. Everything is in our hands and depends on each of us. If everyone thinks about what they can do to get through the next winter and does something about it, they will definitely have an easier time,” he said.
Sakharuk also mentioned that DTEK plans to restore 60-70% of the generation capacity destroyed by shelling by October.
“Again, provided there are no new attacks,” Sakharuk added.
He reminded that the company has lost about 90% of its generation capacity overall.
Earlier, the CEO of Yasno stated that Ukrainians might be without electricity for up to 12 hours a day during the winter. He mentioned that a final forecast could be made in August, when it will become clearer how many destroyed power plants can be restored before the cold season and how severe the winter will be.
BBC News reported that during the winter, power and heat outages in Ukraine could last up to 20 hours a day.
