The war in Ukraine can only end through peaceful negotiations

February 28, 2024Republican senators are leaning towards the belief that the war in Ukraine should be resolved diplomatically. This perspective is increasingly shared among politicians of this party.
This was reported by Politico.
“At the moment, the reality we have to face is that the conflict is ending with a resolution through negotiations,” said Senator Marco Rubio of Florida.
According to him, the question is whether Kiev or Moscow “will have more levers of influence” when the world comes to understand this.
In turn, Senator Di Vance of Ohio expressed a similar view. According to him, there is a “stalemate, probably for an indefinite period.” The politician hoped that “this will lead to some kind of settlement, where Ukraine will be able to preserve its country and the killings will stop.”
As Politico notes, a few months ago, such a position was not popular, but now the situation has changed as the chances of Ukraine winning are increasingly seen as low. Another problem is that not all members of the Republican Party advocate for providing further assistance to Ukraine, but some still call for supporting Kyiv.
