Republicans demand an investigation into Zelensky’s trip to the USA regarding support for Kamala Harris

Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives are demanding an investigation into Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the United States this week.

Members of the Republican Party believe that the visit by the President of Ukraine might have been aimed at supporting Democratic representative Kamala Harris ahead of the elections.

A group of nine Republicans, led by Lance Gooden (Texas), requested information from the Departments of Justice and Defense to determine whether Zelensky’s trip to Pennsylvania earlier this week was “politically motivated” and funded by U.S. taxpayers. Specifically, the authors of the inquiry are interested in whether Zelensky was transported to Pennsylvania on an American military plane and whether he was under the protection of the Secret Service. They also questioned why the Ukrainian President was accompanied only by Democrats.

Additionally, the inquiry cites statements made by Zelensky, claiming that the Republican vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance was “too radical” and that Trump “doesn’t actually know how to stop the war, even if he thinks he does.”
