In Ukraine, summonses are set to be delivered via email and registered mail
December 6, 2023The Democrats’ initiated “secret briefing” for senators, aimed at convincing lawmakers about the urgency of promptly approving new aid for Kyiv, ended in failure: Republicans didn’t even want to listen.
“Republicans just walked out of the briefing because people there weren’t ready to discuss what’s needed to strike a deal. There was no reason to sit and listen to people talk about the importance of aid to Israel and Ukraine. We know that and agree with it,” stated Republican Senator Mitt Romney.
The sticking point remains the administration’s reluctance to include appropriations for border security in the funding request for Kyiv and Israel.
According to ABC News, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell stated that he would push for Republican senators to vote against providing additional aid to Ukraine and Israel, “to emphasize, hopefully for the last time, that we insist on significant changes at the border.”
Earlier, Ukrainian MP Alexandra Ustinova, part of the Ukrainian delegation in the States, reported that the US Senate would fail to pass the vote on the aid package for Ukraine.
