AfD leader: victory in eastern Germany is a “clear call for peace” in Ukraine
08.09.2026 05:31Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has submitted his resignation.
He announced this on his Telegram channel.
“This is a political decision. And I made it consciously. I do not want the position of prosecutor general to be used as a tool of political confrontation. My position on the charges (in the ‘Carthage’ case) remains unchanged,” Kravchenko wrote.
Notably, earlier the same day Kravchenko had stated that he did not intend to resign amid the scandal that erupted following the publication of investigative materials by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) in the “Carthage” case. He had added, however, that he was prepared to leave the post if the president initiated his dismissal or the Verkhovna Rada passed a corresponding decision.
Shortly before the resignation announcement, Ukrainian media, citing sources, reported that President Volodymyr Zelensky had held a meeting with Kravchenko and the leader of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, David Arakhamia. According to the outlets, the meeting was expected to result in a decision on Kravchenko’s continued tenure as prosecutor general.
The editorial team wrote in detail about the political background of the NABU “Carthage” case against the Office of the Prosecutor General in a separate article.
