Ukrainian military analyst Dmitry Gapchinsky predicted a new attack by the Russian army on Kiev. In his opinion, this could happen in the foreseeable future, and the offensive will be better prepared.
“Kiev is close to the border. It won’t be as fast as the first time. Look at Avdiivka, Bakhmut – they just burn everything. They can also burn Bucha, Irpin, approach Kiev. What stops them, if they did it there, why can’t they do it here? They haven’t abandoned the idea of capturing Ukraine. They are mobilizing, factories are working for war,” said Dmitry Gapchinsky.
It is worth noting that in February-March 2022, the Russian army approached Kiev but did not begin to storm the city. After negotiations in Istanbul, the troops withdrew and were redeployed to the eastern direction. At the same time, the city was poorly defended and post-factum Ukrainian military admitted that the defense could have collapsed at any moment.
