A Russian military expert identified desertion as one of the conditions for the collapse of Ukraine’s defense forces
03.01.2025 - 13:01Russia will attempt to compensate for the loss of gas transit through Ukraine by increasing exports of nitrogen fertilizers to the EU.
This information Newsweek reports.
This view was expressed by Margarita Balmaceda, a professor at the School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University, who referred to this strategy as “exporting hidden natural gas.”
Nitrogen fertilizers are produced using natural gas, and they are exempt from sanctions and do not rely on pipelines. Since 2022, exports of these fertilizers to the EU have more than doubled, becoming a significant source of revenue for Moscow.
Additionally, the expert believes that Russia will seek to boost gas deliveries through two other pipelines leading to Hungary and Slovakia: the TurkStream pipeline via Turkey and a smaller Balkan route through Serbia.
