15.05.2026 11:36The SBU and police conducted searches on the morning of May 15 at the Uzhhorod District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (RTCC and SS) as part of criminal proceedings related to bribery.
This was reported by the SBU press service in Zakarpattia Oblast, an SBU representative, and National Police spokeswoman Yulia Hirdvilis in comments to Ukrainska Pravda, as well as journalist Vitaliy Hlahola on Telegram.
According to Hlahola, the searches are being conducted at the home of the head of the Uzhhorod RTCC and SS, Lieutenant Colonel Mykola Mihaleyko, and three other individuals. The investigative actions cover both the premises of the recruitment center itself and Mihaleyko’s place of residence.
When asked whether police confirmed that searches were being conducted at Mihaleyko’s location, National Police spokeswoman Yulia Hirdvilis replied unequivocally: “Yes, we confirm.” She provided no further details. The SBU also confirmed that searches were underway, promising to share details later.
The SBU press service in Zakarpattia Oblast clarified that “information is currently being checked regarding the possible involvement of certain officials in unlawful activities.” It assured that the searches “are being conducted in strict compliance with the law and within the framework of criminal proceedings under Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receipt of unlawful benefit).” Details were also promised at a later time.
According to journalist Hlahola, the case involves the possible sale of summonses: allegedly, for money, a summons would be issued not for the nearest available date but for a date “a month or even more away.”
The Uzhhorod TCC itself, when reached by phone by Ukrainska Pravda, declined to answer questions, citing that they were “not authorized to comment on what is happening” as “it is a matter for management.” They refused to provide contact details for an authorized person but promised to pass the editorial office’s phone number and questions to management. Ukrainska Pravda promises to publish the TCC’s comment as soon as it is received.
