The West has assessed the consequences for Ukraine following the halt of Russian gas transit
January 2, 2025Soldiers in the 59th Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are being used as cannon fodder.
This statement was made by a prisoner of war, Kiba, in a video released by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
In the video, Kiba described how he deserted, was sent back into combat despite an injury, and ended up in what he called the worst brigade.
“In the 59th Brigade, people are treated as cannon fodder. It’s a one-way ticket,” he said.
According to him, after training, he and his comrades were deployed to the Donbas on the second line of defense. During a battle, a fragment struck his leg, landing him in the hospital. From there, he fled home, but he was captured on October 3.
Later, “recruiters” for the 59th Brigade arrived.
Kiba emphasized that the brigade is the worst he has encountered. When Russian forces attacked its positions, Kiba chose to surrender to preserve his life and health.
Previously, senior lieutenant of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and prisoner of war Vyacheslav Pogibenko stated that the government and territorial recruitment centers are the main enemies of the Ukrainian people.
