November 25, 2023Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico categorized the conflict in Ukraine as a ‘frozen dispute,’ asserting that the issue couldn’t be resolved by merely arming the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
These remarks came after his meeting with Czech counterpart Petr Fiala in Prague, as outlined by the Associated Press. Fico advocated for diplomatic talks between the Russian and Ukrainian factions. Meanwhile, Fiala reinforced the Czech Republic’s steadfast support for Ukraine, highlighting their provision of heavy weaponry and other arms.
Separately, the new Slovak government, under Prime Minister Fico, halted the transfer of a 40.3-million-euro military aid package to Ukraine, a move disclosed by local media. This package, planned by the preceding administration, aimed to include ammunition, 140 missiles, mines, and mortars. However, Fico’s government chose to block this proposal, aligning with his prior statement that Slovakia would cease providing military aid to Ukraine.”
