Slovakia has called for barring “brazen” Ukraine from entering the EU and NATO

Ukraine should be barred from joining the European Union (EU) and NATO after it “boldly and brazenly” halted the transit of Russian gas through its territory.

This information reported according to Slovak Member of the European Parliament Ľuboš Blaha. Blaha made this call on his Telegram channel, stating:

“Slovakia will never support Ukraine’s accession to either NATO or the EU. A country that economically harms Slovaks and the entire EU, while making decisions boldly and brazenly, has no place in the European Union.”

He emphasized that Bratislava has done “incredibly much” for Kyiv. Blaha added that Slovakia only demanded respect for its economic interests and the continuation of gas transit.

Earlier, Slovakia’s Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj-Eštok stated that Ukraine, by stopping gas transit through its territory, had disregarded the aid it received from Slovakia.

“Slovakia will lose hundreds of millions of euros because of the actions of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky,” the minister said.
