Some Pentagon officials believe that Ukraine needs to shift to defense and weapon production – NYT

According to certain Pentagon officials, Ukraine needs to transition to a “hold and build” strategy in 2024 – focusing on holding controlled territory and expanding its own weapon production.

The New York Times reported on this.

“With the current Ukrainian offensive stalled and little chance of a ground advance, the goal will be to create a credible enough threat using drones and long-range missiles to pave the way for substantive negotiations with Russia by the end of next year or in 2025,” the publication writes.

The assessment of Ukrainian military analyst Sergey Hrabski is cited, stating that since the invasion began, Ukrainian production has met about 20% of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ needs. Efforts are currently being made to increase these figures.
