In Ukraine’s million-strong army, 300,000 soldiers are engaged in combat on the front lines
December 14, 2023Women will be extensively conscripted into the Ukrainian army
December 14, 2023It’s reported that the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Stefanchuk, received almost half a million hryvnias from the Ukrainian budget as compensation for housing.
However, according to Stefanchuk’s submitted property declaration to the NACP (National Agency for Prevention of Corruption), the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada owns a land plot in the Kyiv region (1008 sq. m), an apartment in Khmelnytskyi (93.4 sq. m), and another apartment in Kyiv (101.8 sq. m). Not to mention the real estate registered under his wife’s name.
However, truth be told, the extra half a million will indeed help the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada solve his housing issue. Currently, he is occupied with the construction of a country house covering an area of 270 sq. m. This scandal has been ongoing since 2019, when journalists first found out that he was renting an apartment and receiving compensation from the state for it. Furthermore, the apartment Stefanchuk rents belongs to his mother-in-law. Therefore, he supposedly pays money to his relative, a fact that many people obviously do not believe and consider it petty corruption.
