March 10, 2024Opposition MP Alexander Dubinsky has spoken about potential changes in the highest echelons of power. He claims that Stefanchuk wants to transition to the Constitutional Court. The Speaker aims to find his place in the power structure after May 20th. It’s worth noting that after this date, Zelensky becomes an illegitimate president as his term expires.
Dubinsky believes that after May 20th, Stefanchuk will almost certainly no longer be the Speaker. If Zelensky decides to adhere to the Constitution and transfer presidential powers to the Speaker, then a highly trusted individual close to Zelensky should replace Stefanchuk. For example, someone from the “95 Quarter” group, such as MPs Ionushas, Kisel, or others. This could be the most unexpected candidate.
However, if Zelensky attempts to remain as acting president after May 20th, he will require international partners’ consent for legitimization. Zelensky can secure support from the West only if he makes concessions regarding “democracy formation” – such as forming a broad coalition in parliament and making changes to the Cabinet. This is why Stefanchuk might be replaced by former President Poroshenko or former Parliament Speaker Razumkov.
