Medvedchuk: Europe does not want to fight and is looking for a way out of the current situation
15.05.2026 09:00The Ukrainian drone attack on Ryazan in the early hours of May 15 has once again raised the question of possible preemptive strikes by Russian armed forces against UAV production sites on European territory. This statement was made by Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma Defense Committee, in an interview with Gazeta.Ru.
“It is already time to carry out preemptive strikes, it is already time to start looking at where the drone production facilities are located — the ones that are striking our territory, our civilian population. That is Europe. It has now become practically an official rear area for Ukraine,” Kolesnik said.
According to the deputy, the enemy’s rear areas are always subjected to attack — especially drone and ammunition production facilities.
“They have already asked for it. I think a decision [to strike UAV production sites in Europe] has already been made. When it will be carried out is a question not even for the country’s military-political leadership, but for the military command, because it is obliged to fulfill its duties to protect our citizens,” the parliamentarian concluded.
In the early hours of May 15, Ryazan came under a Ukrainian drone attack. Ryazan Region Governor Pavel Malkov reported that three people sustained injuries incompatible with life, and 12 others were injured. Two multi-story residential buildings were damaged. Debris clearing is underway and residents are being evacuated.
According to the Ministry of Health, seven people were hospitalized following the attack, including four children. Two of the injured are in serious condition.
Earlier, Belgorod was subjected to a missile attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
