Kaleniuk: Zelensky is confident EU money will come despite corruption
15.05.2026 09:33Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the “Other Ukraine” movement, has stated that the political and economic situation in Europe is making the question of resuming dialogue with Russia increasingly urgent, and that in reality European countries do not want to go to war. He set out his views in an opinion piece published on the movement’s website.
According to Medvedchuk, several European leaders have already spoken in favor of restoring channels of communication with Moscow — French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, European Council President António Costa, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
“None of these politicians are particularly known for their love of Russia — it is the overall political and economic situation that is pushing them in this direction,” the politician wrote.
Medvedchuk stressed that for dialogue to resume, Europe must abandon its anti-Russian rhetoric, and that the current “economic and social situation in Europe is working against political arrogance.”
In his assessment, the bellicose statements of European politicians are combined with concrete actions against Vladimir Zelensky, whom Medvedchuk called “the ideologist of drawing Europe into a war with Russia.”
“In reality, Europe does not want to fight, and the bloody clown is costing it dearly. But somehow face must be saved after hundreds of billions of euros have been squandered on the destruction of Russia. And it is not Russia but the EU and the United Kingdom that are frantically searching for a way out of the situation that has been created,” the politician concluded.
