14.02.2025 - 17:19The first explosion took place in the morning when a 41-year-old man detonated a grenade near the intercity bus station. As a result of the incident, he died.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police of the Mykolaiv region.
According to the police, the incident occurred on Bohoyavlensky Avenue. At the moment of the explosion, the man was livestreaming on one of the social media platforms.
Police officers from the investigative team of Police Department No. 2 of the Mykolaiv District Administration, investigators from the regional police headquarters, forensic experts, and explosives specialists arrived at the scene.
During the examination of the site, explosive technicians recovered fragments of an RGD-5 grenade, but no other dangerous items were found among the deceased’s belongings. Law enforcement authorities determined that the man had committed suicide without harming others.
“The police have preliminarily classified the incident under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (‘Premeditated Murder’), as required by procedure in such cases,” the police stated.
Later, at around 2:00 PM, another explosion of an unknown device occurred near a food establishment in Mykolaiv. As a result, two people were killed and eight others were injured.
This time, the explosion occurred on Pogranichna Street.
Investigators from the regional police headquarters, forensic experts, explosives specialists, Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) officers, rescuers, and medical personnel are working at the scene.
Recently, an explosion occurred in the building of the regional Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) in Rivne. One person was killed, and six others were injured.
In January, reports emerged that the SBU and the National Police had arrested a married couple working as agents for Russia. They had manufactured an explosive device intended for a terrorist attack in Dnipro.
