This was announced by Language Ombudsman Olena Ivanovska on her Facebook page.
She wrote that a driver who refuses to serve a customer in Ukrainian will face a fine of 3,400–5,100 UAH.
“The Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine provides for an administrative penalty for direct violators of the Language Law regarding the use of the state language in the service sector. The fine ranges from 200 to 300 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens. As of today, this amount is 3,400–5,100 UAH (€70–106),” Ivanovska emphasized.
At the same time, the ombudsman also appealed to taxi companies to carefully check drivers for knowledge of the state language, take passenger complaints seriously, and respond promptly.
It should be recalled that recently, Language Ombudsman Olena Ivanovska also called for blocking Russian music in Ukraine on popular platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, and others.
