August 12, 2024The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) were supplied with substandard first aid kits worth 58.5 million hryvnias (€1.3 million).
This was reported by the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation in Kyiv.
The procurement scheme was organized by a former head of one of the military training centers, the head of the medical service of this center, and eight private entrepreneurs. According to the investigation, eight contracts were signed between the training center and the entrepreneurs for the supply of 30,773 first aid kits totaling 58.5 million hryvnias. However, the military officials did not ensure the quality of the supplied kits.
Subsequent examination revealed that the first aid kits did not meet established standards, lacked the necessary components, and contained low-quality medications. The use of these kits could have harmed the health of the military personnel.
A year ago, it was reported that the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense had purchased substandard food supplies for the UAF worth hundreds of millions of hryvnias.
