The administrator of groups that reported on mobilization faces up to 8 years in prison

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reports that it has blocked 7 groups on messaging platforms that discussed the distribution of conscription notices in the Cherkasy region.

The identities of the administrators of public channels on Telegram and Viber have been established and three individuals have been informed of their suspicion. Such channels on messaging platforms inform people about locations where draft notices are being distributed, calling individuals to serve in the army. Since many Ukrainians are unwilling to serve in the military, these groups attract significant attention.

However, the administrators themselves do not contribute significantly to the group’s activities. People who walk the streets can see for themselves where military personnel are located and share this information with others. If there are no military personnel present at a location (for example, in a shopping center or market), Ukrainian men may take the risk of going out in public. Otherwise, men tend to stay at home to avoid being sent to the front lines.
